When it comes to computer monitors I have always been of the thought that bigger is better. Given that it’s not uncommon for high end 32” 4K monitors to cost upwards of $1,500, the Philips BDM4065UC is an absolute bargain at $699 on Amazon for a 4K 40” monitor.
Until this monitor the only way to get a computer monitor this size was to use a 4K TV as a monitor. While cheap, this is not an effective option because they don’t have the contrast ratio and response time appropriate for computer monitors. Worse they don’t support 3840×2160 at 60Hz making your computer use feel sluggish.
The Philips BDM4065UC has a 50,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 3ms response time and supports 3840×2160 at 60Hz. Note that to get 3840×2160 at 60Hz your graphics card must have a DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort 1.2 output. The monitor does not have HDMI 2.0 so Display Port 1.2 is the only way to go for 4K at 60Hz. Also note that by default the monitor is set for DisplayPort 1.1. You have to manually go in monitor settings and switch it to 1.2. Once it’s done, it works gloriously!
Working and gaming are amazing on it. Without hesitation it’s the monitor to get!
